Running on vacation

It can be hard to keep exercising or running while on vacation, since this is a time to be relaxing and enjoying yourself. However, when people stop running on vacation, it sometimes can be hard to pick it up when they get back. especially if it is a long vacation. Sometimes the activities get in the way of running while on vacation, but there are some strategies to help get the running in.

Do research before you leave- Look up some places to run before you leave, see where the local parks are, or if they have running routes around the place your staying in. When you get familiar with the area, you are more likely to get out and run.

Run in the morning- The earlier the better, get the exercise in before the daily and family activities start. Because once everyone starts getting ready to head out for the day, it may be hard to get a run in before the day ends.

Run on a treadmill- Most hotels have a workout room, and sometimes you may not have time to venture out in the city, but getting to the hotel gym would be just as good. This works great when on cruises, since the running track on the ship is the only other way to run, unless you run when you get to port.

Find a race- This is a great way to run while on vacation, see if there is a local race the time that you are there. And this is a great way to see more of the area you're staying in.

Find a group run- By going to this website; www.meetup.com, you can try to see if there are running groups in the area you're staying. Most major cities do, and its a great way to meet new people who love running.

Run on a beach- If there is a beach that is nearby, there really is no better place to run than along the beach. Its almost exercising and enjoying your vacation at the same time. Even if you would have to travel a little, just think, how many times to I get to run along the beach.

There are many other ways that can be thought of to run on vacation. Be creative, and see if the people you're traveling with want to join you. It never hurts to ask.
